Often when we have to adjust a person or a situation, we experience many negative thoughts.  We find it difficult and tend to feel that we are making this adjustment only for the other person's benefit.

Apllication

To adjust means to understand that nothing can be done to change a situation - it is more sensible to accept it.  I adjust not because it will benefit others, but because I will benefit in the long run.  This is like crossing a physical obstacle: I cannot remove it, so I have to find a way around it if I am to progress.

When we take up something new, we are determined and we want to give our best to the end.  But often we grow bored and move on to something new before we have really given the first option a chance.  The more this happens, the harder it is for us to succeed.

Application

When I begin to do something along with determination I also need patience.  Patience helps me to wait and watch calmly for the fruit of my effort to be seen.  Determination gives me the ability to go on planting new seeds of effort knowing the fruit is sure to come.  And so there is never failure, but only a journey toward success.

Application

I need to visualize what I want to achieve, and keep reminding myself of this until I reach my goal.  By focusing only on what is important to achieve the task, I will achieve success quickly and not be distracted by other, unimportant things.

It is natural to share our resources with others.  Yet when we give something we are not free from expectation.  We tend to look for others' co-operation to match what we have given.  But we do no always get from others as we have given. Disappointment follows.

Application

True generosity brings contentment.  I need to appreciate the fact that there is joy in giving.  When I am able to enjoy the act of giving that itself becomes a source of income and I am then not caught up with expectations of what I would get.  To give means to appreciate what I have and to share it with others.

If I want to achieve long-lasting change, I need to commit and put in a significant amount of effort.  It is not enough to practise only when a challenging situation comes up.  It is more important to practise sufficiently so that I am ready prepared to face problems whenever they arise.  This type of practice over a long period brings a long-term result.

Trying to focus on other people's talents and positive traits helps free me from seeing only their weaknesses,  The more I connect with others and appreciate their unique gifts and talents, the more able I am to help them develop.  In this way, I create a positive environment for everyone's personal growth.

When I recognize that I am fully responsible for the task at hand, and that I need to oversee both the big things and the little items, I will stop being careless.  I'll make a point of taking care of every aspect to the end.  This will bring accuracy to my tasks and will also enable me to delegate well.

"The one who has faith is able to vanquish negativity."

Contemplation

Whenever we encounter a challenge, we tend to lose faith in our ability to find a resolution.  Although we have the resources to work on the problem at hand, we are unaware of them.

Application

To vanquish negativity, I need to strengthen my faith in myself.  If I focus on one thought such as, "I am victorious," I will find that all negative thoughts are lifted.  Whenever I channel my faith into a powerful positive thought, there is no room for negativity.

"The one with contentment neither becomes upset nor upsets others."

Contemplation

Other people just seem unreasonable sometimes - they just don't want to work in the same way as us and make us feel unhappy by engaging in arguments or challenging opinion.  It's easy to become angry and emotional.

Application

I nees to check myself when others are getting upset with me.  I need to make an effort to check and then change my reacttions constantly so that I am able to move  as the demands of people and time change.  This will bring about true contentment - such contentment that neither will I be upset nor will I upset others.

"To be wise is to see the order in everything that is happening."

Contemplation

When difficult situations arise, we often find it hard to understand why the situation has occurred at that time.  Without understanding this, we are unable to respond to the situation in the right way, which means we experience failure again and again.

Application

Wisdom teachers me that everything that happens in life is significant.  Nothing is the fruit of chance, but is due to what I did yesterday.  This means that whatever I do today will have an impact on what happens tomorrow.  I will think about this today and initiate wise acts.

"Even the most difficult task is made easy with the co-operation of all."

Contemplation

When given a responsibility we usually plan to do it alone.  It just seems simpler not to involve too many people.  It also helps us to avoid the different kinds of personalities that we may find tricky to deal with.  This attitude deprives us of others' support and co-operation.

Application

When involved in a big task,  I need to see to it that I involve as many people as necessary.  When I involve lots of people I gain access to all their specialties - and there's sure to be someone there with the skills to make even the most difficult task easy.
