Contemplation

When we consider ourselves 'big', we usually expect the same from others.  We want them to give us respect and obey us. But we do not always find others listening to us or obeying us.  This leads to disappointment and the urge to use our authority in a more forceful way.

Application

To be big means being a giver.  If I am big, I need to understand that there are others less fortunate than myself, and I need to use what I have been given to help them.  This attitude will help me attract others' good wishes, which in turn will help me progress.

Contemplation

Sometimes we hold back, waiting for the right situation to use our gifts.  But there are often times when we could have done more.  Each of us has the power to turn ordinary moments into memorable ones.

Application

When I am aware of my own gifts in a conscious way, I can make everything I say or do meaningful and powerful.  Nothing is wasted, or even ordinary; everything I do becomes special. I am not caught up with the ordinariness or the negativity of a situation, but am able to enjoy the moment by making it my own.

Honesty is usually associated with telling the truth or being open with others.  We often find it easier to be honest with others than with ourselves.  It can be difficult to admit our weaknesses, even to ourselves.  But in order to progress, we need to be brave enough to face the truth.

Application

More than anything else I need to be honest with myself.  That means reflecting upon my thoughts, words and behavior.  If I start making excuses for myself,  I am not being truly honest,  When I become aware of my weaknesses, I will be able to address them and move forward.

The power of truth within equips us to learn from all situations.  When things go wrong we are able to reflect on how to learn from mistakes rather than making excuses to others and ourselves.  Making excused means hiding from the truth and stops us from learning and progressing.

Application

Thinking about something that went wrong today, I need to ask myself about my part in the situation.  When I understand this, I will know how to correct myself in the future.

Contemplation

When everything is going well, it's easy to be enthusiastic and interested in moving forward.  But when even a little thing goes wrong, we tend to lose all enthusiasm to do anything.  This makes us feel tied down and then it becomes difficult or even impossible to put in enough effort to move forward.

Application

A caged bird has the ability to fly, bu is unable to spread its wings and soar.  I need to remind myself that being enthusiastic in all situations is like being a free bird reaching great heights. When I can experience this inner freedom and appreciate the joy it brings, I will be able to sustain it even when things go wrong.

We often want to help others or serve them in some way, but find that the right opportunity never arrives.  At other times, we find the opportunity given to us isn't the one we wanted - it doesn't match our desires.

Application

I need to be constantly thinking about how I can help others.  I won't wait for better situations or opportunities to come up.

Instead I will help others whenever I can.  Providing help in little ways will give me the opportunity to serve in bigger ways.

We usually blame fortune when something goes wrong.  We complain that life is unfair, or regret past actions that have brought about the current situation.  But to dwell on what went wrong in the past means that we cannot fully experience the present.

Application

Instead of cursing my past actions, I need to make the most of the present.  Whatever I do today, will benefit me now, as well as in the future.  I need to pay attention so that I take the right action and create the best fortune for myself.

Normally, in a relationship we expect things from those we get close to, We feel that because we love them we have right over them. Because of our expectations we are not able to give the other person freedom to move forward or progress.

Application

When I experience true love I can provide the right environment for people so that they can progress in their lives. Today I will not hold onto those I love nor expect them to do everything according to my needs, but instead will give them real support.

When difficult situations come our way, we tend to fill the mind with negativity, which drains us of energy.  It is easy to become overwhelmed, leaving no space for constructive thinking.

Application

When I encounter a difficult situation, I need to try not to get caught up with why it happened or dwell on the problems.

Instead, I need to realize that I am stronger than the situation and am able to overcome it.  Once I start thinking about how to solve the problem, I'll find a way to fly above it.

Humility helps us give in all situations, and makes it easy for others to take what we have to offer.

Application

In all my interactions with others, it is more important to see what I can give, than to expect anything.  Then, even when I face criticism, I will have no problems.  Humility helps me to bow easily.

When I am going through difficult times, I must remind myself that the truth within me will eventually lead to victory.  This faith will help me to approach every situation with a positive attitude.

Contemplation

Simplicity is often mistaken as ordinariness.  It is sometimes associated with lack of color and variety.  So we rarely focus on simplicity in our words and actions.  Instead, we tend to add as much color as we can in order to seem more attractive or impressive.  In the process we move ourselves away from our original nature.

Application

To be simple is to think of myself as like a seed, which is complete, yet simple.  True simplicity means discovering and using the qualities within me.  It means becoming closer to my true nature and being.  Once I allow these qualities to flow out from my inner self, others are able to take inspiration from me.  With my own simplicity I will become an example for others.

Sometimes we react to small situations.  Our feelings are dependent on the situations we face.  If we experience negative feelings we often try to change them.  But this can be difficult, either because of our personality, the personality trait we are working with at the time, or a particularly challenging event.

Application

To change my reactions to the different situations that face me, I need to change the way I see things. I need to understand the situation as it is and not let it be colored by my personality traits.  When I see things as they are,  can control how I act in situations instead of simply reacting.

When I recognize a problem, the first thing I need to do is to smile.  When I am happy within myself and understand that every situation has something to teach me, I will find solutions more quickly and easily.

As we travel toward our destination, it's easy to get distracted.  We sometimes become so busy thinking about the little things that affect our lives that we lose focus and stop moving forward.

Application

First, I need to clarify my goal, then think about how I'm going to work toward it.  When situations arise to distract me I need to remind myself that they are only sideshows, they are not important.  Instead, to find success, I need to keep my energies focused on my destination.

I must make sure that my actions are based on truth.  Then if things go wrong, I will be able to maintain courage.  If I keep reminding myself that I have the power of truth within me, I will be able to overcome whatever challenges come my way.

We don't usually see things as they are, but as we are. We tend to color what we see according to our past experiences and our attitudes and beliefs.  When our experiences of the past are negative, we tend to become negative too.  This is why some situations tend to bring about sorrow and unhappy feelings.

Application

Every situation contains something bright and beautiful.  When I make an attempt to see things for what they are, I am able to see this positive aspect.  Then I am able to let go of the negativity associated with past experiences and appreciate what exists in the presents.
