We usually enjoy learning new things, but it is often more difficult to translate our knowledge into practice.

Application

When I hear or see things that I think would help me, I must make the effort to incorporate them into my life.  When I do this consistently, I recognize the power of knowledge to transform what I do.  The more I use my knowledge in a practical way, the more I am able to tap into the power within me.  As I continue to apply each point of knowledge to the right situation in my life, I equip myself with the skills necessary to deal with any situation.

Contemplation

Whenever we have negative thoughts, we try to stop them.  We know they are not good for us and they drain us of energy, so we try to avoid them or change them.  Because we are not always able to succeed in doing so, we begin to accept these kinds of thoughts as part of our lives.

Application

I need to get into the habit of exercising my mind in order to keep it healthy.  To exercise the mind means creating and stabilizing whatever consciousness is required at that time.  That means if I need peace. I can hold on to that thought for however long I want to.  This prepares me to deal with difficult times.
