Value : Humility

"Truth is proved when it is combined with humility."

Contemplation

When we think we know the truth and are truthful, we can become convinced we are right.  We are not able to see what the other person has to say and continue to put forth our own perspective.  This can lead to futile arguments and conflict.

Application

With truth, I also need humility.  Humility helps me to put forth my ideas to another person in a detached way.  The truth within me will help me understand the other person and will keep me open to his or her point of view.  I will get my point across without much difficulty because the other person will also be able to see my point of view.

Day 63 Value of Faith

Value : Faith

"To be free from worry is to find the right solutions."

Contemplation

Whenever we are faced with a problem, we naturally begin to worry.  This worry leads to a mass of negative thoughts.  The mind become so consumed with them that we can't find the solution, nor can we stop worrying.

Application

The only way to find a solution is to keep my mind free from worry.  To do this, I need to have the faith that there is a solution and that I will find it.  Keeping my mind free in this way switches on my intuition so that I automatically become able to make the right decision.

Day 62 Value of Enthusiasm

Value : Enthusiasm

"The one who is constantly full of enthusiasm inspires others."

Contemplation

Whenever problems come our way, we tend to feel weighed down by negative thoughts.  Heaviness in the mind prevents us from moving forward with enthusiasm and makes it tricky for us to inspire others.

Application

Whenever I encounter a difficult situation, I need to make a special effort to remain free and light.  The more enthusiastic I am, the more progress I will make.  My attitude will inspire others, too.

Day 61 Value of Openness

"Openness to learning brings progress."

Contemplation

When someone corrects us or offers advice, we often meet them with resistance and become unwilling to listen.  If we put in a lot of effort, we may not be able to listen to others' suggestions.  This kind of attitude does not help us to learn and progress.

Application

I need to keep my mind constantly open to learning in order to experience constant progress.  When I have this attitude I learn from everything that happens.  Then I will be able to improve in each and every task.

Day 60 Value of Stability

"To achieve success, we must first develop inner stability."

Contemplation

When a situation is good, our state of mind is good too.  But when something challenging happens, we experience fear or anxiety.  It is not so much that the situation goes wrong, it is more that our reaction goes wrong.

Application

In order to experience success or to feel victorious, I need to change the way I respond to situations.  Even in the most negative situations today I need to remind myself that even if the situation itself is not in my hands - how I choose to respond to it surely is.  Then I will make the best choices.

Day 59 Value of Being Present

"To celebrate is to enjoy every moment."

Contemplation

Normally when we celebrate, we forget our worries for a time and enjoy those around us.  But once the celebration is over, we return to routine thoughts.  Regarding celebration as something temporary means we often don't get as much enjoyment from life as we could.

Application

Real celebration means enjoying the beauty and joy of each and every moment.  By celebrating every moment, I will be constantly enthusiastic.  I will stop looking for special occasions to be happy but instead will make the best use of every moment.

Day 58 Value of Responsibility

Value : Responsibility

"Accepting responsibility means accepting challenge."

Contemplation

In many situations life bring our way we have two choices - either we meet them bravely and take responsibility for our lives and the choices we make, or we try to escape.  The second option brings neither external success nor inner satisfaction.

Application

Inner satisfaction lies in accepting challenges rather than trying to escape them.  I need to remain on the field in the game of life instead of just being a spectator.  The more I play, the more expertise I gain.  Keeping this thought in mind enables me to accept all the challenges life brings.
